About me
Ben is the CEO of Speero, an experimentation agency built by the founders of CXL. Ben and his team have created over 40 industry-standard blueprints for experimentation, which they refer to as an Experimentation Operating System (XOS). Ben leads ExperimentLive (EXL), an experimentation conference and network of global meetups.
Q&A
If a company is just starting to bring all its teams into one shared experimentation approach, what’s the first thing you’d suggest they do?
"If a company is just beginning to unify its experimentation efforts, the first step should be implementing a standardized scorecard. This creates a shared language across teams, defining what “success” looks like, how metrics are interpreted, and how results are actioned. Without this, teams operate in silos, interpreting data differently, prioritizing inconsistent goals, and ultimately undermining the potential of experimentation.
A scorecard addresses this by codifying metrics, aligning analysis standards, and clarifying decision-making thresholds. It also enables consistent test evaluation and facilitates better knowledge sharing. According to Speero’s 2025 Experimentation Maturity Report, a lack of standardized processes and metrics is one of the top challenges organizations face when scaling experimentation. Starting with a scorecard not only elevates rigor but also accelerates maturity by forcing agreement on what matters, before scaling tools, headcount, or test velocity. It’s foundational governance that sets the stage for impactful, repeatable, and cross-functional testing." Ben Labay
